Christmas 24 Newsletter
A message from Mrs Day
Well what a busy but successful Autumn Term we have had at Clarice Cliff. It seems to have flown, but what a lot we have achieved.
It has been great to welcome new members of staff who have settled in very quickly. Mr Plant and Miss Smith have now done a full term with us and are loving being at Clarice Cliff. Mr Ciccotti, Miss Warren and Mrs Toth have recently joined us and are already feeling part of the team. Welcome to all!
The children have as ever really impressed us and any visitors that we have had this term have commented on their exceptional behaviour in classrooms, their high standard of work and the many smiles and giggles! Our writing across the school has continued to show huge improvements as well as our reading. Miss Smith has been doing lots of work with maths and having the addition of Tiny the Turtle has really inspired the children. Our work across other areas of the curriculum has also been complimented and we are so proud of all of the children’s work in their books and in their classrooms. Well done everyone!
As well as lots of work in class, we have also had a range of trips. Year 6 enjoyed their residential to Stanley Head and got to learn so many skills. We have had trips to the museum, to Trentham, Tittersworth and attended a range of sporting and musical events. The school choir has been established and they sang beautifully at our recent Christmas Markets. Our Rock Band also performed at a concert too! What talented children we really do have!
The children have really enjoyed their end of term treats with Santa and the Panto. They have worked so hard and really deserve to be rewarded. Thank you to all parents too for being so supportive of the academy.
We hope that you all have a really enjoyable Christmas and enjoy quality time together. We look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday January 6th for another exciting and productive Spring Term.

Attendance shout outs!
247 pupils have achieved 96% attendance or above this half term. Can we beat this percentage in Spring Term?
100 pupils have achieved an outstanding 100% attendance since we returned to school in September.
At the top of the KS2 attendance leaderboard this term, Year 5 Kapoor are the undisputed champions. Miss Roper has made it very clear that they intend to remain at the top.
In KS1, there was no knocking Year 2 Da Vinci and Miss Adams for the attendance leaderboard top spot. Well done to you all.
In EYFS, the Squirrels and Mrs Hazledine were our attendance superstars.
Attendance reminders.
Children need to be in school at 8.50am.
Please try to book appointments outside of school time.
If appointments need to be attended during the school day, pupils should attend school before/after to get their mark.
Holidays must not be taken during term time. Government legislation prevents schools from granting leave of absence and fines may be issued.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Attendance Team for support on attendance - we are happy to help.
Christmas Concerts
We have all enjoyed watching the Christmas Concerts. The children have performed beautifully and helped us all get into the Christmas Spirit. We had a few of our School Governors attend the performances and so many lovely comments from Parents, Carers and Governors and we hope you all enjoyed them!.
A visit from Santa's Reindeer
Children in Nursery, Reception and KS1 had a very special visit from Santa and his Reindeer. The children were really excited about feeding and petting the reindeer. They got to have a nice chat with Santa, who gave each child a present and enjoyed hot chocolate and biscuits.
Santa went back to the Northpole with a very big list!
Key Stage 2 Pantomime.
Children in KS2 enjoyed watching the pantomime "Snow White". They then had hot chocolate and biscuits in the classrooms.
The pantomime was amazing, it was lovely to see all the children and staff getting involved and enjoying themselves.
We can't wait to see what we will get to watch next year!
Christmas Markets.
We held our first ever Christmas Market this year. We had lots of Christmas stalls, food, tombolas and a Santa's grotto.
Our School Choir sounded amazing too!
It was a lot of hard work putting it all together, but it was a brilliant festive atmosphere, and we really look forward to doing it all again next year.
A google form has been sent out to you to ask if there is anything you would like to add to next year's Christmas market to make it even better.
Christmas Fun.
We have had a brilliant last week full of Christmas fun. KS1 and KS2 enjoyed a silent disco which was so much fun.
We had a very special celebration assembly that was taken over by Santa and his naughty elves. They even started a snowball fight!
Nursery went on a local walk to post their letters to Santa and also enjoyed brunch and books with the big man himself.
All the children have had Christmas parties in their classrooms, everyone is now in the Christmas spirit.
