New Drum kit Arrives Thanks to Pupil's Fundraising Efforts

We’d like to express our gratitude to talented drummer, Brodie in Year 5, who has been tirelessly fundraising to upgrade the school’s drum kit!

Brodie, who is also an incredible swimmer, took part in a sponsored swim in June, raising an amazing £615 from swimming an impressive 130 lengths.

In April 2024, Brodie took part in the Co-op Academies Trust Young Musician of the Year awards, making it to the final alongside children from more than 30 schools from across the Trust. Reaching the finals further ignited his interest in music and instruments and he has been working hard to fundraise to help secure a new drum kit for our school.

Head of School Emma Day said: “Brodie is an outstanding drummer with lots of potential and he absolutely loves to play his drums. We were touched when we learned he was fundraising to help the school upgrade the drum kit.

“Our previous drum kit had been in the academy for a number of years and was very well used! Pupils use this in music lessons and also in our School Rock Band. Now we have a new kit for everyone to enjoy thanks to Brodie’s generous efforts.”Brodie, even made sure the new drum kit was blue to match our school colours. He said:

“I thought that other people might like to play the drums like I do. Playing the drums relaxes me and makes me feel happy so I want other children in the school to have the same experience.

“I am a good swimmer and knew I could get a lot of sponsorship to be able to get the drum kit. I’m really proud to have been able to donate the new drum kit, it looks and sounds amazing.”

His proud mum Vicki added: “Brodie wanted to help the school get a new drum kit so other pupils have the best possible chance to learn the drums, enter competitions or be a part of the rock band.

‘“We are so proud of Brodie for what he has done for his school, he loves to help others and is so selfless.”
