Key spaces at Co-op Academy Clarice Cliff have received a facelift thanks to the hard work and dedication of a team of volunteers from GXO Logistics, DHL, and the Co-op Logistics Team.
During the February 2025 half-term break, these community-minded individuals rolled up their sleeves and transformed several areas of the school, ensuring a bright and welcoming return for the children.
The volunteers focused their efforts on three spaces: the community room, the new sensory room, and the outdoor nursery playground.
The community room, located near the school's reception, has been transformed into a bright and inviting space, now ready to host breakfast clubs, parent workshops, meetings and more!
The school's brand new sensory room has been painted and is now ready for the specialist equipment. Designed to help children regulate their emotions, the space will become a calm and welcoming environment thanks to the volunteers' efforts.
The most challenging task was the rejuvenation of the outdoor nursery playground. Braving cold temperatures, wind and rain, the volunteers worked tirelessly to refresh the playground equipment, ensuring it was ready for the children to enjoy.
"We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers from GXO Logistics, DHL, and the Co-op Logistics Team," said Emma Day, Head of School, "they gave up their valuable time to help us complete these big jobs in a really short space of time.
“We simply couldn’t have achieved this without their support. The refreshed spaces will make a real difference to our children and the wider school community."
The school’s Academy Community Pioneer, Sara Eyden, enjoyed working alongside the volunteers. She said: “We’ve very thankful to everyone who got involved in this project. We’re looking forward to even more exciting plans for more projects that will benefit the school and the wider Fenton community.”
The school would love to hear from other community-minded organisations looking to get involved in local projects.
The refreshed spaces are now ready to be enjoyed by pupils and staff alike, providing a brighter and more stimulating learning environment.
